Peace Giver

It's a big scary world out there. None of us are promised an easy life; I do not know anyone who is exempt from loss, grief, pain, abrupt uninvited changes, or health challenges. If we think someone else's life is easy, we have not walked in their shoes.  You've seen those pictures of a speech bubble above a group of people's heads. "I'm worried about my Mom's health." "How will I pay off this car repair?" "Will I get that job I just interviewed for?" "I'm struggling with depression, will it ever go away?" " I wish someone would ask how I'm doing today." "A smile would really lift me up right now." "This a huge thing in my life, too big; will it ever change for good?" "How will life look without the one I just lost?" There is only One person who knows the deepest thoughts and angst of our heart. And He has promised to be with you. He is The Creator of you, so He knows you th...

Are You There?

God. You know He exists. You know He created. You know He is Love, Light, Shepherd, Vine. How does that get him to me; to my pain, loss, anxiety, daily life? Why can’t I feel Him? Why, when I need him so badly…doesn’t he speak to me?

Faith. Here is when it kicks in. Jesus, The Son of God, said in John 20:29, “…Blessed are those who haven’t seen me and believe anyway.” I am blessed when I believe He will provide a way through the fog and confusion of what’s happening to me right now.  I am blessed to believe that He is in control, because I surely feel panic to see my future spinning out of control! How is it going to turn out? What am I required to do besides hang onto God for dear life?

One of the most effective prayers I can cry out is “HELP!” That is often the only prayer I can utter. And it works. Recognizing I NEED Him is the best place to start. I am brought to the realization again and again, that all my best efforts are really not my best at all. It’s only when I ask Him, leave it with him, and watch how He works THIS one out….well that IS the very best I can do.

Read the Psalms. So often, I’d find a Psalm that was emphatically mine! When I don’t see an answer yet, I ask for grace ’til I do see it.

Make a “Good” list, and beside it, a “Hard” list. What is tough today? What are the good things that’ve happened this week? Well…are you breathing? Walking? Seeing the sunrise or sunset? Then you are alive! For a purpose. Have you heard a kind word? Been affirmed, or encouraged? Write it in the good list. Thank God for the good things. Ask Him to take care of the toughies for you. See what happens this week. God bless you with His Love.

(This is new for me. I will make some changes as this progresses. Thanks for your grace.)
